Women helping women

If working in an office full of women has taught me anything, it's we can be a force to be reckoned with.

We work to get the job done, whether that means staying late, coming in early, or skipping that lunch break we thought we might get that day.

Sure, some would say I'm biased because I, myself, am a woman. But I think it gives me a clearer perspective and understanding of just how much the female gender does.

That's why it's so great to see that women are stepping out of the shadows and embracing being acknowledged for their hard work.

Whether it comes in the form of an award, big cheque, raise, promotion, or a bouquet of flowers from a loved one, we're starting to take the time to pat ourselves on the back for our efforts.

Not only that, we're also going out of our way to congratulate and celebrate the other women in our lives for their accomplishments.

We're supporting, mentoring, and helping the women we surround ourselves with, and that is clear, especially in weeks like this where we take the time to mark International Women's Day.

I know that men work hard too. I'm not saying they don't. But for years women have been downplaying their achievements, whether it's because they don't feel it's deserved, or they think they're too busy to stand in the spotlight.

Regardless of the reason, International Women's Day is all about celebrating ladies and all they bring to the world, so I say pop the champagne, or sparkling water in my case, and thank the women you're surrounded by, because it's very rare we take the time to acknowledge ourselves.
