If you haven't heard of David Gray, it's time you did. He designed the system we now have for Klein, but Klein refused to have to pay for standby.

I find it interesting, that is usually Alberta having grid problems! Why is our fossil fueled electricity supply so fragile and so expensive? 2 reasons.
A.When Klein introduced a competitive market 25 years ago, they expected many companies would compete and reduce power costs!
Second our regulations ONLY PAY FOR DELIVERED ELECTRICITY! There is no provision for extra power when we need it like last week. To fix this all the UCP has to do is change the regulations to allow payment for standby power. Why didn't Saskatchewan have a problem? Lots of backup standby power. Renewables with storage can do the job but Idealology is preventing it.
B. As well, we no longer have a competitive market, we have an Oligopoly of a few electricity generators who can withhold electricity from the grid as the price is paid by the minute. Costing you and I billions
So its time to email your MLA and say fix it by a simple change
