Two dead and two injured after crash in Quebec's Saguenay—Lac-St-Jean region

LAC-BOUCHETTE — Two people were killed and two others injured in a crash in Lac-Bouchette in Quebec's Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean region.

Quebec provincial police arrived at the scene of the road accident around 5 a.m. Saturday on Highway 155 in the small municipality of about 1,200 people.

Sgt. Ève Brochu-Joubert says the initial reports, the driver lost control and ended up in a ditch before the vehicle caught fire, which was brought under control by firefighters.

Of the four on board the vehicle, one passenger died on the spot while the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died at the hospital.

Two other passengers were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police are trying to determine why the driver lost control.
