There are just so many places to choose from. We've done the work for you to give you a hand and save you some headaches. We've rounded up some of Alberta's most unique campgrounds you'll love.

Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park

You'll find this lovely provincial park in east-central Alberta, located along the shore of Lac la Biche. This place is unique for Alberta because its sandy beaches have a coastal vibe that you might not be used to finding in this prairie province. The destination is breathtaking, with islands to explore, old-growth forests, and endless hiking and biking trails through the dense trees or along the sandy beaches. There are campsites with power, a picnic shelter, an amphitheatre, a boat launch, fast food concession, a playground, and more. You might even catch the northern lights.

This place is lively and inviting, welcoming families and campers of all ages and interests to enjoy the vast and diverse landscape. If you're a fan of activities, try renting canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards to discover the waters of Lac la Biche.

Pine Lake Campground

Here we have one of the most remote campgrounds in Alberta. Pine Lake is located in Wood Buffalo National Park, about a 6 km drive from Fort Smith. There are 19 campsites, each with fire pits, tent pads, and picnic tables. The sites are just a short walk from the sinkhole swimming area, where you'll find a stunning beach. There are also RV camping spots for those not planning to pack a tent. This place is so lovely. You'll truly feel at one with nature as you paddle atop the water, eat your campfire dinners, explore the expansive terrain, and maybe even get a glimpse of the northern lights.

Aspen Crossing Campground

This campground is perfect for RVs, offering 120 sites that are made just for big rigs. There are over 300 acres to explore, including a pond, gardens, greenhouses, and more. There is also a selection of train excursions for people of all ages, from a champagne brunch excursion to the famous Polar Express ride. If you want to try something unique, you can ditch your RV for a night and rent one of the Caboose Cabins, which are converted train cabooses. This place is rich in history, endlessly beautiful, and an experience you won't soon forget.
