Charges laid after traffic stop

On May 16, 2019, Alberta RCMP Traffic Services was conducting an Alberta check stop on Highway 897 near Frog Lake First Nations. During the check stop, a vehicle being checked was resulted in an investigation.

Police seized a loaded sawed off rifle with a round in the chamber, cocaine, oxycontin, $475 in Canadian currency, zip ties and other drug paraphernalia, according to an RCMP media release.

 Dustin Gellerman (27) of Edmonton, who was also wanted on 6 outstanding warrant, has been charged with a number of offences.

Jason Johnson (33) of Lloydminster was charged with a number of offences also.

Both Gellerman and Johnson were remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and both are scheduled to appear in Bonnyville provincial court on May 21. 

Katelyn Dase (25) of Lloydminster was also charged with trafficking and firearms offences. 

Dase was released on a $1,500 no cash Recognizance with several conditions. Dase is scheduled to appear in St. Paul provincial court on May 22. 

“Alberta RCMP Traffic Services goes beyond only enforcing the traffic safety act,” says Cst. Stephen Cunningham with the RCMP Traffic Services.
