Man robbed at knifepoint for $60

During the late evening hours of Aug. 6, a group of two or three persons approached a male in an alley near the Lakeland Motel and demanded money. A knife was produced and the male victim sustained a minor cut to his arm.

During the late evening hours of Aug. 6, a group of two or three persons approached a male in an alley near the Lakeland Motel and demanded money. A knife was produced and the male victim sustained a minor cut to his arm. He surrendered $60 to the group, according to a St. Paul RCMP press release.

The group left and shortly after another group of persons arrived and provided assistance to the victim. The suspects have not been identified. Police are asking those who assisted the victim to approach police with their information in the hopes that they may be able to help identify those responsible.

July report

St. Paul RCMP responded to a total of 588 complaints during the month of July.

On July 30, RCMP dispatched to the Saddle Lake beach where a party was reported to be getting out of control. Further investigation revealed that a person had been robbed of their vehicle and sustained injuries requiring medical treatment. A 20-year-old male of Saddle Lake is charged with robbery. Warrants are being sought for five other persons who were allegedly involved in the robbery.

Chinese national arrested

On July 23, a male Chinese national was arrested near the Area 51 bar in St. Paul after being found in possession of another person’s ID. Further investigation revealed he had entered Canada on a visa, which expired in 2003.

He has since been turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). St. Paul RCMP believes he was in St. Paul visiting friends and living in the Edmonton area, said detachment spokesman Cst. Sam Montasser.

RCMP was conducting traffic checks after the bar closed when the man produced another person’s ID. The man provided his name after police questioned the ID, which came up on the CBSA system.

RV stolen

During the early morning hours of July 21, a Cyclone 3950HD fifth wheel trailer, valued at $54,000, was stolen from Smyl RV. No suspects have been identified and RCMP asks for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible. Information can be forwarded through Crime Stoppers or directly to St. Paul RCMP.

The culprits backed a truck up to the trailer, broke locks and drove off with it, said Montasser.

Collision

On July 20, RCMP attended a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 36 near Township Road 584 between a GMC pick-up truck and a Kenworth semi-tractor. The 66-year-old male driver of the pick-up and his 32-year old female passenger were both ejected after he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the southbound semi. The 52-year-old semi-tractor driver was not injured. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors. No charges have been laid at this time.

Home invasion

On July 3, RCMP were dispatched to a home invasion in Saddle Lake where a male and female, both unknown to the occupants, entered the house and demanded money. The female threatened to use a firearm on the occupants if they did not comply, according to RCMP. A firearm was never produced. She also claimed to be an undercover police officer.

Both intruders were apprehended by police and are facing charges of robbery, impersonating a peace officer and uttering threats.

Drug charges

Later that evening, a search warrant was executed at another residence in Saddle Lake where marijuana, money and various drug paraphernalia were seized. RCMP charged a 22-year-old male of Saddle Lake with possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.

On July 2, RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in Saddle Lake. A total of $1,500 cash and 13 grams of crack cocaine were seized. RCMP charged a 19-year-old from Kehewin and a 15-year-old from Saddle Lake with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
