Update: Wood Buffalo RCMP advise of traffic disruption in Fort McMurray
Fort McMurray, Alta. – Wood Buffalo RCMP have removed their police presence in the area of Highway 881, near Surmount. Wood Buffalo RCMP continue their investigation without any further disruption to traffic and thank area motorists for their patience.

Fort McMurray, Alta. – Wood Buffalo RCMP are advising the public of a police presence in the north bound & south bound lanes of Highway 881, between the Surmount main gate and Surmount Lodge. RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) along with members of the Wood Buffalo RCMP are conducting an investigation. Traffic will not be able to proceed through this portion of the Highway.
RCMP are advising motorists to take the access road around this area. It is unknown how long this will take. An update will be sent when the Highway is clear.
