Cold Lake detachment locking its doors, Bonnyville RCMP limiting access

BONNYVILLE/COLD LAKE - A day after the St. Paul RCMP detachment announced it would be locking its doors to limit access to its building as a precautionary measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cold Lake RCMP detachment has made a similar announcement.

Effective Thursday, Nov. 19, the front door at the Cold Lake detachment will remain locked until further notice, according to RCMP.

"Cold Lake RCMP would like to ensure the public that we will still have boots on the ground as there will be no changes in police response and will continue to meet the needs of our communities and areas we serve," reads the media release.

If there is an emergency, residents are always directed to call 911. 

Before attending the detachment, residents are being asked to call the office at 780-594-3302. 

The detachment is handling collisions reports, taking statements and criminal record checks via email at RCMP.KColdLakeDet@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Bonnyville RCMP

At the Bonnyville RCMP detachment, access is being limited to the building.

"Currently, we are limiting access to the building to between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.," said Sgt. Kim Hillier.

"We are requesting that basic criminal records checks, statements of loss, statements for investigations . . . be emailed to the general Bonnyville detachment account," explained Hillier. "The public can call us for a determination on whether access to the building will be required based on their circumstances."
