Driver found to be impaired behind the wheel while prohibited from driving

KEHEWIN – While initiating a traffic stop with a truck that had a burnt-out taillight in Kehewin on Feb. 19, an RCMP member discovered the driver was prohibited Canada-wide from driving a motor vehicle.

“The driver was displaying signs of impairment and a Mandatory Alcohol Screening was attempted but the driver failed to provide adequate samples of his breath,” according to RCMP.

The driver was also alleged to have lied about his identity.

Police say, through investigative steps, the member determined the identity of the driver and confirmed he was 49-year-old Everette Stone.

Stone was arrested and issued provincial sanctions for impaired driving and charged criminally for driving while prohibited and for obstruction. The truck he was driving was towed and will be seized for 60 days.

Stone is set to appear in Bonnyville court April 4.
