New and improved spring showcase takes place at Elk Point Elementary

The masters of ceremonies not only helped the show come alive, they had an opportunity to entertain, with William Ballas, Hunter Pankiw and Theo Loughran adding one final tune.▲
Elk Point Elementary Grade 2/3 class wrapped up the performances with ‘Sunny Weather.’▲
The Grade 1 class entertained with their song about a visit ‘In a Lady’s Garden’.▲

Grade 2A added a tuneful salute to the season with ‘Spring is Coming.’▲
Future comediennes Katrina and Layne entertained the audience with some jokes. ▲
The multiple humps of ‘Alice the Camel’ were celebrated by the Kindergarten B class on stage, followed by a video of the same number by the Kindergarten A class.▲
Grade 3A students did their best to encourage some most needed precipitation with ‘It’s Raining! It’s Pouring!’ on xylophones and other rhythm instruments.▲
Elk Point Elementary Grade 3 students presented their very special depictions of sunflowers, each with the Ukrainian version of their first name in the centre.▲
A wide variety of individual art created by Elk Point Elementary students was displayed during the Spring Showcase, in addition to artwork created by each class.▲
An array of beautifully decorated cakes was part of a silent auction at the Spring Showcase, the proceeds going toward school projects.▲

ELK POINT – Elk Point Elementary School students William Ballas, Hunter Pankiw and Theo Loughran welcomed an appreciative crowd to the school’s “new and improved Spring Showcase” and tea on May 12, inviting them to enjoy the variety of student art displayed on the gymnasium walls and to bid on the silent cake auction while they waited for a lineup of entertainment to take the stage for the showcase coordinated by Performing Arts teacher Stephanie Earle.

Tables decorated with handmade flower bouquets and paper table coverings that visitors were urged to decorate with their own artwork or autographs soon had the added attraction of trays and goodies donated by Cornerstone Co-op, as a group of Grade 5 and 6 volunteers circulated with coffee, tea and water for the guests.

The Grade 3A class was first to entertain, with “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring” played on xylophones and other percussion instruments. Then came both Kindergarten classes, KB in person and KA on video, with their great renditions of “Alice the Camel."

Grade 6 student MacKinley Blacklock and her dance partner from St. Paul were next with their contemporary dance, “Battlefield”. They would return later in the program with a jazz number.

A pair of jokers from Grade 3A, Katrina and Layne, entertained with a series of funny stories, before Grade 2A came on stage to confirm that “Spring is Coming” with their song.

Grade 5 student Lincoln Jurak performed a complex Karate routine, followed by Heidi Sibal with her energetic rendition of  “Just Dance”.

Grade 4 students Brian and Jasmine followed with another series of jokes before the Grade 1 class came on stage for their song, “In Some Lady’s Garden.” Five Grade 3 students were next with a dance number before Grade 4 student Luke Osinchuk entertained with his guitar.

The Grade 2-3 class were slated to wrap up the entertainment with “Sunny Weather,” but the three young emcees weren’t quite finished, and added a song of their own before urging everyone to enjoy a final look at the artwork and to add another bid in the cake auction.
