Country veteran Jamie Warren sings up a Christmas treat

Jamie Warren will perform at the Dec. 3 Country Christmas Concert

It sounds like Jamie Warren is looking forward to talking to Lac La Biche

concert-goers just as much as he is looking forward to singing to them.

"quote about people there..."

The veteran Canadian country music star will be in Lac La Biche on Dec. 3

as part of the Canadian Country Christmas Concert at McGrane Theatre. The

event is being hosted by the LLB Agricultural Society and will see four

marquee Canadian country music stars, Duane Steel, Samantha King, Sean

Hogan and Warren, hit the stage. And while Warren is an experienced

singer who began his career in the early 1980s, has put out six records,

had numerous chart hits, and toured across North America, he still loves

a good chin-wag when he's on the stage.

"quote about humour or talking."

In smaller venues like the one in Lac La Biche, a concert Warren and other

performers call 'soft-seaters,' there is far more interaction between the

audience and the singers, and the more intimate settings are a perfect

backdrop for Warren's style of music, which is a very roots-flavoured

sound. The singer/ songwriter himself even admits his sound may not be the

contemporary country sound that many people are used to. But then again,

he pointed out, what is contemporary country anymore.

"quote about different artists through the decades...."

Despite the different sounds and styles of country music over the years,

Warren said he hasn't changed his style, and still bases much of his music

on what's inside him rather than what's popular in the world around him.

"quote here.

His fifth album ... "Here and Now.. Right Here ... ??" was a

perfect example of music from the heart. Going through a divorce and

coping with other life struggles at the time, Warren said the album was

very retrospective.

"quote 10 out of 12 songs"

But don't think of him as a brooding singer or a country crooner who only

writes about lost love, broken pickup trucks and low-paying jobs. In fact,

Warren has an upbeat attitude that comes across easily in conversations

and in the majority of his music. But it's still a side that most people

are surprised by.

"quote on his humour being something people won't be ready for."

For a better look at Warren, his three partners in country, and a chance

to share an intimate evening of country and Christmas songs with 200 other

people, tickets can be found at Marczak's True Value and the Portage

College General Store.

The Country Christmas Concert is a fundraiser for the college's student

food bank and Lac La Biche's Waskaysoo Food Bank. The show has been made

possible by a joint partnership between the college and the agricultural

society with the help of donations from the Ramada Hotel, Big Dog radio

and the Lac La Biche Post.
