Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, his Alberta counterpart Jason Kenney, and the governors of North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho have written the heads of their two countries to ask for the move. 

Daniel Walders, 39, has been charged with 11 counts of assault, four counts of sexual assault, and two of uttering threats.

The Opposition NDP said there have been bed closures, cancelled surgeries, or shuttered emergency rooms in communities across the province, including: Edson, Grande Prairie, Rocky Mountain House, Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, High Prairie, Slave Lake, Wainwright, Lacombe, Barrhead and Edmonton.

Police said the man had been dropped off in the park on July 7 for a solo trek and was reported overdue when he failed to meet up as planned. 

“The reputation I have built up over the course of three decades of service to my country has been irreparably tarnished by the decision to announce publicly an investigation into my alleged conduct,” the affidavit read, “exacerbated by the fact that the announcement lacked the context that the investigation relates to a single allegation of misconduct dating back over 30 years.”

“One way to mitigate potential conflicts with wolves and get ahead of it is to do closures to give them space and secure habitat.”

The system is already in use for tsunami threats and Amber Alerts, however it was not used during the "heat dome" in June in which the B.C. Coroners Service has said the typical death rate tripled. 

“We are seeing things pick up, but we know that the domestic market really isn’t enough to fuel the summer revenue that we’re going to need to make it though next winter.”

Funds collected under the levy would be redirected to support programs and strategies to reduce and prevent tobacco use in Alberta.
