A shocking discovery

The Bonnyville RCMP are asking residents with any information about a suspicious incident involving a power pole to come forward. On Dec. 22, at about 10:18 p.m.

The Bonnyville RCMP are asking residents with any information about a suspicious incident involving a power pole to come forward.

On Dec. 22, at about 10:18 p.m., ATCO Electric notified the local detachment they had responded to a fire at a power pole. When they arrived, it looked as though someone had attempted to steal copper wire from the pole.

The electrical company was concerned that the culprit was injured as a result of the incident, however after doing some digging RCMP members were unable to locate the suspect.

Although there is no connection at this time, members were notified of a grey Dodge in the area the day before the incident.

Man produces stolen firearm

A local resident purchased a firearm and after running the serial number handed it over to the RCMP on Dec. 21.

The man claimed to have bought the gun from a reliable source, but was quick to learn it had been stolen.

The investigation on the incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP.

Anyone can search a serial number online prior to purchasing a vehicle, firearm, or other item to ensure it hasn't been stolen.

Neighbourly spat ends with a call to police

A man known by local RCMP was the source of a complaint on Dec. 23.

A call came in at about 8 a.m. about the man yelling from his porch.

According to police he was uttering threats to his neighbour, although no charges have been laid at this time.

Police hunting for more info

RCMP are looking for more information after a man reported someone impersonating a peace officer on the early morning of Dec. 24.

The resident received a voicemail from an individual claiming to be a police officer. The message asked the man to turn down his music.

So far, officers have no leads on who made the false claims.

They are asking anyone with any information to call the local detachment at 780-343-7200.
