RCMP Press Release

A local family came home on Christmas day to a stranger in their residence, and it wasn’t Santa.

On Dec. 25, 2018, Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local residence around 6:30 p.m. after a family found a 46-year-old man inside their house.

“(They) came home and found that their front door had been booted in,” detailed Cst. Walter Sidorenko.

The suspect had been bitten by their dog and was “physically shoved out of the residence by the folks that lived there,” he continued.

“Police attended and shortly located the culprit. He has been arrested for break and enter.”

Family dispute goes too far

A large family dispute resulted in a damaged vehicle and two facing charges after an incident on Dec. 18.

Bonnyville RCMP were called regarding two vehicles chasing each other as a result of a family argument.

“These folks followed each other and they were over at the Sobeys. They ended up at another location in town. As a result, one of the vehicles was damaged, the windshield was kicked in, and it was pushed across the sidewalk,” Sidorenko described.

A 32-year-old male and a 28-year-old female are facing charges in relation to the incident.

Taser deployed after fight with police

Kyle Nadeau, 32 of Bonnyville, has been charged with two counts of mischief and resisting arrest.

On Dec. 20, police were contacted by family members of Nadeau asking that he be removed from the residence.

According to Sidorenko, the family advised RCMP Nadeau was intoxicated by methamphetamine.

“Members attended and he wasn’t cooperative and started fighting with officers. A taser was deployed and he was taken into custody with no further incident,” said Sidorenko.

Nadeau will remain in custody until his court appearance on Jan. 15.

Not such a merry Christmas after all

On Christmas Eve, Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a report of a woman who was being assaulted by her 36-year-old boyfriend.

“An investigation ensued and a 37-year-old female was found with multiple... injuries,” Sidorenko said, adding the victim had two black eyes and a laceration on her forehead.

Her boyfriend was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.
