A 54-year-old man has been sentenced to seven days, time-served after RCMP found 15.5-grams of cocaine at his Bonnyville home.
On June 8, 2013, Bonnyville RCMP were conducting a well-being check at a local residence.
Allan Keith Arbour answered the door and welcomed police inside.
While inside the residence, officers found a container containing 15.5-grams of cocaine on the counter.
During Arbour's Tuesday, Feb. 26 court appearance, he plead guilty to possession of cocaine and failing to appear in court.
At the time of the incident, Arbour had no criminal record, but admitted he suffered from a drinking problem.
He was arrested, and spent 63 days in custody.
"(It was) a real life wake-up," defence counsellor Hart Spencer said.
After he was released, Arbour attended treatment, however, he didn't get a chance to complete it because he was hospitalized. In November 2018, Arbour had his leg amputated because of complications with his diabetes and addictions issues.
The joint submission for seven days, time-served was accepted by Honourable Judge Lawrence Nemirsky, who described it as a fit and proper sentence.
Arbour now resides in Edmonton, and claims he has remained sober.
