BONNYVILLE - At 1:30 a.m. on May 17, Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a residence on the 4800 block of 49 Ave as a man was attempting to break into a home.

"During his attempt to break in, the male was yelling death threats to the residents inside," according to RCMP. "The suspect damaged the door and smashed windows of the house before leaving."

RCMP found the man nearby and he was arrested. During his arrest, he threatened to kill the two RCMP members.

Calo Berland, 20, of Bonnyville is charged with four counts of uttering threats, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and one count of disobeying a court order.

"He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and despite Berland’s breaching a Court Order in the commission of these new charges, he was released from police custody and is set to appear in court on June 18," according to information from RCMP.
