Bonnyville RCMP Report: Stolen credit card used at Bonnyville hotel

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP are investigating after a stolen credit card was used to book a room at a local hotel.

A 36-year-old man from Abbotsford, B.C. is a suspect after the owner of the credit card called the hotel to report fraudulent use of the card.

The hotel guest didn't present the card, instead just gave the number for pre-authorization to book the room.

Hotel staff alerted RCMP on July 17, however the man and a female left the hotel while the complainant was on the phone with the RCMP. The suspects fled in a silver Honda car with tinted windows and a B.C. license plate.

Driver attempts to avoid check stop

Local police were conducting a check stop on the afternoon of July 18 when they noticed a vehicle that attempted to avoid them.

A member was able to locate and stop the vehicle on 54 Ave. and 53 St. The driver, a 44-year-old Bonnyville woman, blew a fail on the roadside screening device.

She was transported back to the detachment to provide breath samples. The results of the samples didn't lead to impaired driving charges, but she was issued an immediate roadside sanction under the Traffic Safety Act including a three-day driving suspension and three-day vehicle seizure.

Suspects flee after B&E

Two men have been charged after an attempted break and enter on July 22.

The complainant reported two individuals tried to get into her shed but sped off towards Highway 28. After crashing into a gate, the suspects took off on foot.

Police Dog Services was called in to track the suspects, but were unsuccessful.

RCMP later received a call about two males walking near the area the track was done. Members located the two individuals and were able to connect them to the stolen vehicle.

They were both charged and released on an undertaking to appear in Bonnyville court.

Man exposes himself at gas station

A local resident called RCMP to report that an unknown male exposed himself to her and committed an indecent act while she was at a local gas station.

Officers located and arrested the man, a 26-year-old from Maskwacis. He was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody.

This was the third time in the past 60 days the accused has been charged with committing an indecent act.

Police looking for tips on vandalized vehicle

RCMP is asking for any information from the public about a vehicle that was vandalized while parked at Centre Suite Inn.

They received a call about the incident on July 23 just before 3 p.m.

Mailboxes broken into

A Canada Post employee called Bonnyville RCMP on July 23 to report multiple post office boxes were broken into some time during the previous night.

The boxes are located at 5202 51 Ave., 5301 52 Ave., and 5319 51 Ave.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact the RCMP as they continue their investigation.
