Bonnyville RCMP seek to identify man who approached children

BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying an unknown male who approached three young children, aged 10 to 11 years old, on their way home from school.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. on March 2 between 43 Ave. and 47 Ave. in Bonnyville.

 
The children reported walking home from Dr. Brosseau School, when an unfamiliar black truck stopped to allow them to cross the street. Once the three were across the street, the unknown male passenger in the truck began calling out to them. The three ignored him, continuing to walk home. The unknown male exited the truck, and continued to call out to the three children. The children then ran home, alerting their mother, who then called the RCMP to report the incident.
 
The male is described as approximately 5'10, with shoulder length brown hair, no facial hair, wearing a black or grey ball cap, a light pink hooded sweater, and blue or black jeans. The vehicle is described as a black truck, with a loud engine. The driver of the vehicle was not seen.
 
Bonnyville RCMP also remind parents to caution youth walking to and from school to remain aware of their surroundings and to avoid contact with strangers.
