BONNYVILLE - Richard Fangrad, CEO of Creation Ministries International and producer and co-host of the TV show Creation Magazine LIVE!, will be delivering his talk ‘A Christian View of Everything’ at the Bonnyville Community Church on May 30.

Event organizer Rick Pidde said the event is an exploration of the science involved in creationism and is a casual event that welcomes people to engage in a respectful dialogue surrounding the creation/evolution debate.

The event is free of charge and will take place at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be offered.

According to Fangrad’s website, he has been speaking on the creation/evolution debate since 1994, and he is known for his “easy-to-understand scientific presentations.”

“Richard grew up in a Christian home, but by high school he had many unanswered questions about creation, Genesis and the accuracy of the Bible that greatly hindered his spiritual growth. This began to change in 1994 after hearing Dr Carl Wieland (from CMI-Australia) and subscribing to Creation magazine, and reading other resources on apologetics,” states the website.

Fangrad started the first Canadian CMI office in a room in his home in late 1998.

Pidde said that attendees are welcome to bring whatever questions they have, as there will be a Q&A session.

“I was shocked to hear the science. The lack of evidence for evolution is shocking. Basically, by chance everything evolved – that is taught to us as fact. It really is the beginning for the philosophy of secular humanism,” said Pidde.

The information that Fangrad shares is not readily available to the public, making the event a rare opportunity to engage with the information.

“It’s information you’re not going to see on TV, you will never get any of this information at school, you usually won't get it at home, and often you won’t hear it even at church. So, you have to ask yourself where you would ever understand this,” said Pidde.

Pidde believes that religion is not antithetical to science, and encourages people to read both the scriptures, as well as creationist scientific explanations.

“You can’t account for life by random chance. Believing in God is not anti-science. All the main early scientists were Christians, and in fact, it developed out of a Christian worldview . . . Science is about knowledge, so if you’re looking for knowledge, why would you exclude the possibility of a supernatural creator? It doesn't make sense to start out saying there is no God because science says there is no God,” said Pidde.
