Cold Lake RCMP Media Release
On October 25, 2019 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP received a call for a rear-end traffic collision in Cold Lake. While on route, the officers received additional information that the driver of the suspect vehicle smelled strongly of alcohol, and had since left the scene of the accident. The witness was able to provide officers with information as to where the suspect came to a stop and entered a home.
Officers attended the home and were able to apprehend the driver for impaired driving well over the legal limit and for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
We would like to remind drivers that with the holiday season approaching, to plan ahead. If you are planning on drinking - do not drive. By finding an alternative way home such as transit, cabs or a designated driver, you can help ensure that you and the people sharing the roads will get to their destination safely.
