BONNYVILLE - For about a minute, homes and businesses experienced a temporary power outage in the Town of Bonnyville. The cause - downed power lines.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a call of a downed power line near 57 Street and 52 Avenue.

"On arrival, crews found power lines and communications lines down on the road," stated Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney of the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA).

According to the fire chief, the communications lines were snagged by a semi-truck which caused two power poles to snap.

ATCO, Eastlink and Telus are all working on the problem, confirmed Heney.

BRFA crews were still on scene controlling traffic as of 9:40 p.m.
