Four MD councilors seeking re-election

With Reeve Ed Rondeau already formally announcing his intention to seek re-election this fall, the remaining MD councilors have chimed in as to whether they will be running for another term in October's municipal election.

Councilors Don Sinclair, David Fox, Mike Krywiak and Fred Bamber have all confirmed they will all be throwing their names on the ballot in hopes of serving another term as a councilor.

One councilor, Glen Johnson, will not be running for another term.

“I am 70 years old. I have enjoyed my time,” said Johnson. “There comes a time in life when you have to make a decision.”

Ward 4 Coun. Barry Kalinski is still undecided and plans to make a decision in the near future.

Every member on the MD council talked about thoroughly enjoying their time serving the citizens in their ward. Most decided to run again because of some unfinished projects they wanted to see completed.

“There are a few things that I need to get done. It is nice to get things done for the people,” said Krywiak. “We are getting two miles of Road 485 paved; I want to continue with that project. I have had many people asking me and some telling me to run, so that's also why I'm running again. I am still young enough.”

Along with the “rewarding experience” of representing the citizens of Ward 6, Bamber has enjoyed his time working with the other councilors on joint projects in the MD.

“It has been most interesting in learning to work with council as a team in putting together the necessary infrastructure and increased staff to carry out the increased road pressures that are taking place throughout the MD.”

Fox, who represents Ward 2, has “every intention of seeking re-election.”

“I think there are a few things that still need to be done. The people have been great to work with and I have really enjoyed it,” said Fox.

The Bonnyville municipal election will take place on Oct. 21.
