Frank James Frenchman was sentenced to life in prison in relation to the death of Bonnyville senior Alfred Wagner.

According to Crown prosecutor Jeff Rudiak, Frenchman won’t be eligible for parole for at least 13 years.

During his appearance in the Edmonton courthouse on Thursday, July 25, Frenchman was also ordered to provide a sample of his DNA for the Canadian National Databank and is prohibited from owning a weapon or firearm for life.

Earlier this year, a jury convicted Frenchman of second-degree murder after 83-year-old Wagner was murdered during a home invasion and robbery in October 2016.

Also accused in the case was Frenchman’s sister, Arizona Chastity Frenchman. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to five years in jail in November 2018.

Frenchman’s lawyer, Naeem Rauf, didn’t provide comment by the Nouvelle’s press deadline.
