Impaired driving charges laid after single vehicle collision near Bonnyville

BONNYVILLE - A man is facing impaired driving charges after RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 28, east of Bonnyville on Aug. 3.

A witness reported the collision, involving a pickup truck that was hauling a boat, at about 9 p.m.

"RCMP members immediately attended and found the vehicle with boat and trailer attached, which had veered off the road and crashed into some trees," reads information from Bonnyville RCMP.

The driver was still seated in the truck and woke up when RCMP knocked on his window. 

"Several alcohol bottles were noted in the cab of the truck," according to RCMP. Evidence and investigation determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. 

The driver was issued provincial sanctions for impaired driving and refusing to comply with an alcohol demand. He is additionally charged for driving while unauthorized and transporting liquor within easy access in a vehicle.
