A 23-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision.

On April 28, at roughly 2:40 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint of a single-vehicle collision in Kehewin.

The caller told police the driver, Marion Elizabeth Paul, had left the scene and gone to a nearby residence.

Officers attended and located Paul, who showed signs of impairment.

Paul told police she thought her foot was broken, so she was transported to the hospital. RCMP requested a blood sample, however, Paul was incoherent and couldn't comply.

After obtaining a warrant, police were able to get a sample of Paul's blood, which read levels of 160-milligrams of alcohol per 100-millilietres of blood.

"I got too drunk one night... and I thought I could drive illegally," Paul told the court during her appearance on Tuesday.

Paul was sentenced to pay a $2,000 fine and a one-year driving prohibition.
