BONNYVILLE – After it was announced that former CAO Al Hoggan and the MD of Bonnyville had come to a “mutual decision” to end Hoggan's employment as CAO, Ag & Waste Department Director Matt Janz was appointed Interim CAO.
Neither Hoggan nor council have offered further comments on the subject of Hoggan’s departure from the MD, but Reeve Barry Kalinski said council has a lot of confidence in Janz’s ability to act as interim CAO.
During the Oct. 2 special meeting, in which all members of council were present, a motion was carried to conclude Hoggan’s employment.
The motion stated, “That council formerly recognizes and effects the Municipal District of Bonnyville and Alistair Hoggan's mutual decision to conclude Mr. Hoggan's appointment and employment as Chief Administrative Officer effective October 2, 2024, and that Mr. Hoggan be paid severance pay in accordance with his employment contract with the municipality,” according to the meeting minutes.
The discussion took place under closed session, and information is protected under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP), which pertains to “Disclosure harmful to personal privacy,” according to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
