Local RCMP dismantle drug ring

Bonnyville General Investigations Section (GIS) brought down a local drug operation after three months of investigating.

Bonnyville GIS, with the assistance of Bonnyville RCMP, the Eastern Alberta District GIS, Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, Cold Lake RCMP Police Dog Services, and Cold Lake RCMP members, executed multiple search warrants in the Lakeland on Oct. 12. In total, four locations were searched including one in Ardmore, Bonnyville, and two in Cold Lake.

As a result, officers located and seized 170 grams of suspected cocaine, packaging materials, and other drug paraphernalia.

A 40-calibre handgun with a prohibited magazine was also found.

Police have arrested and charged five suspects as a result of their investigation. Jordan Cyris Crook-Lombe, a 24-year-old Edmonton male, 24-year-old Malik Kenton Lloyd Weir of Edmonton, 33-year-old La Loche, SK resident Terrance Ryan Janvier, Tiffany Rae Lynn Grandbois (Lewis), a 32-year-old Cold Lake woman, and a 49-year-old Cold Lake female were taking into police custody.

Crook-Lombe was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled, substance, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a restricted firearm without a license, and three counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance. He appeared in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and adjourned his matters to Oct. 23 in Cold Lake. 

Weir was released by a Justice of the Peace and will appear in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse Oct. 22. He has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a restricted firearm without a license. 

Janvier is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance and failing to comply with the condition of an undertaking.

Grandbois will be in court to face charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance. She was released on conditions and is set to appear in Bonnyville court Nov. 26.

The 49-year-old Cold Lake female was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and will also appear in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse Nov. 26. 

Youth charged with mischief

RCMP were asked to attend a Kehewin residence where a 16-year-old male was throwing items, yelling, swearing, and attempting to assault another person in the home.

Officers attended and charged the Wetaskiwin-area youth with mischief under $5,000.

Sorry, we're closed

Police received a report at 2 a.m. on Oct. 13 that a 25-year-old Fox Creek male was attempting to break into a downtown business.

The male was charged with mischief under $5,000 and was released to appear in Bonnyville court Nov. 26.

An unwelcome visitor

A man spent several hours trying to access a Bonnyville apartment complex before trying to break in through a window.

The complaint came in to RCMP just before midnight on Oct. 14 of a 41-year-old Edmonton male trying to gain access to the 53 Ave. building. After several failed attempts, the man tried to break-in through the window of one of the residences.

"RCMP were called. We arrived and found a 41-year-old male from Edmonton intoxicated at the scene. He was arrested and released when sober," S/Sgt. Sarah Parke detailed.

The male is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville court Nov. 26 and has been charged with breaching conditions and mischief.

Suspicious behaviour under investigation

Police are looking into a report of multiple males rooting through vehicles near a 47 Ave. apartment complex. The caller told RCMP it appeared as though the suspects were possibly trying to steal a vehicle on Oct. 14.

"They then got into a blue BMW that appeared to have front-end damage, and drove off," explained Parke. "The matter is still under investigation and anyone with information regarding that is encouraged to contact us."

Attempted shoplifter at Bonnyville pharmacy

A suspect known to police was caught in the act on Oct. 16 when he tried to steal from a local pharmacy.

Police were called to the business and, using video footage, identified the suspect.

The 26-year-old male was located, arrested, and charged with theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with conditions.

Refusing to "settle up" with local establishment

A 52-year-old Kehewin male has been charged with obtaining food by fraud after RCMP attended a local establishment where the man refused to pay his bill at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.

At the time of the offence, the male was intoxicated.

He was released from Bonnyville cells when sober with an expected court date of Nov. 26.

Storage units broken into overnight

On Oct. 17, Bonnyville RCMP were notified a local storage facility had been broken into sometime overnight.

"More than one person was victimized from the theft and break and enter," detailed Parke.

The business is located on the 6,000 block of 49 Ave. Anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in that area, or have information relating to the incident are encouraged to contact RCMP at 780-343-7200.

Warrant out for man who broke curfew
RCMP are looking for a 42-year-old man who broke his curfew on Oct. 18.

It was about 3:30 a.m. when police attended the residence of a person known to be on conditions including a curfew.

According to Parke, the Glendon resident didn't answer the door when officers attended, and is being charged with breaching his conditions as a result.

Stolen vehicles reported

Several vehicle owners have reported their trucks stolen out of the area.

A 1500 Dodge Ram with Alberta license plate BBL 7109 was taken from a 49 St. residence, and a Ford Ranger, license plate CCC 8785, was stolen from a local parking lot.
