Comedian and magician Dana Daniels hit the stage at the Centennial Centre this past Friday, entertaining the audience with magic, improvisation and smooth comedic timing.

The show was a family friendly event put on by the Bonnyville Baptist Church.

"He is a really funny guy," said Pastor Dave MacLean, who organized the show.

"The crowd was really receptive and got involved. I think it went really well. Everyone seemed to have a great time."

MacLean said the church is looking to host further community friendly events.

"It's not just the church members here, we're making contact with the whole community."

Daniels opened the show by introducing himself and his psychic dove, Duane.

He then had Duane read an audience member's mind. A woman held up a set of keys, while Duane had his back turned. Then with the keys hidden, Duane, in a man's voice, said "keys."

Daniels went on to hypnotize Duane and then had him pick the correct card out of a deck. He incorrectly picked the two of hearts, to which Daniels exclaimed to the crowd, "It's a bird, what did you expect?"

Daniels has been doing magic since he was 11 years old. After sharing a bit of his background with the audience, he made fun of his first name and its feminine connotation.

Growing up, he said he was made fun of for it, so he eventually sought advice from his sister "Chuck."

Later, he brought a young woman on stage to train to become a magician's assistant.

The gag ended with Daniels having raw egg smashed in his hands and having the assistant towel up the mess.

Nearing the end of the show, Daniels received a five dollar bill from a male audience member. The bill was marked with the man's initials and turned into bird feed before his eyes.

To change the bill back, Daniels convinced the man to put on a fake beak and then had Duane pop out an egg.

Daniels cracked the egg and the bill appeared with the same initials on it, as the audience broke out into applause.

He finished the show with the 'vanishing bird' trick, as he and Duane exited the stage.
