With Family Day on Feb. 21 fast approaching, why not start planning the day early? There are plenty of activities families can do, from skating to reading, to building a snow fort.

With Family Day on Feb. 21 fast approaching, why not start planning the day early? There are plenty of activities families can do, from skating to reading, to building a snow fort.

The Centennial Centre has a host of drop-in activities for families for $2. The movie Tooth Fairy will play at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. There will be youth shinny hockey from 12 - 2 p.m. and a public skate from 1 - 3:30 p.m. The climbing wall will also be open from 1 - 4 p.m.

That evening at the Centennial Centre's fieldhouse, the Bonnyville Community Church will host an International Food Extravaganza. The evening will feature cultural presentations with food from countries such as South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Russia and Canada. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and anyone interested is encouraged to get their tickets soon as the event sold out last year.

Adult tickets cost $15, children ages five-11 cost $8, and younger patrons cost $1. Tickets are available at the Centennial Centre, Town of Bonnyville office or the Bonnyville Community Church.

Although it will be closed on Family Day, the library will host Fun Friday on the no-school Friday Feb. 18. The library will show the movie Despicable Me, followed by a theme swim over at the swimming pool.

And of course, there's nothing like spending time at home with your family playing a board game, doing an art activity, or baking cookies.
