A local officer had to think on his toes after a suspicious vehicle investigation took a turn for the worst.
In the early hours of Monday morning (Dec. 18), an RCMP officer was patrolling Gurneyville Rd. near Twp. 604 when he spotted two suspicious vehicles driving side-by-side.
“He attempted to initiate a road-side check with them, but they fled,” said Sgt. Sarah Parke of the Bonnyville RCMP.
The officer located the two trucks on a dead-end road. He pulled over and got out of his vehicle.
“As they came out of the dead-end road they actually veered their vehicles towards the member who then had to take evasive action and run into a nearby treeline to avoid the vehicles,” Parke explained.
They trucks were described as a white Dodge Dually with orange marker lights, and a single cab painted dark blue or grey.
Anyone with any information on the incident or the owners of these vehicles is asked to call the RCMP at 780-343-7200.

Reminding residents about the usage of drones
Parke wants to remind residents that it's illegal to fly a drone over private property, and out of the users line of sight.
They also can't be flown within five-and-a-half kilometres of an aerodrome, 1.8-kilometres from a heliport, including the hospital, or 9-kilometres from a hazardous area.
Drones must also be clearly marked with the name and contact of the owner.
RCMP ask that users respect other resident's property and privacy when using drones in any area.
