Fleeing through a field didn't prevent RCMP from making an arrest.
On Aug. 22, 2018, Bonnyville RCMP attempted to pull over a vehicle in Kehewin, but the driver fled through a field.
The suspect vehicle was later located at a Kehewin residence, and after running the license plate, responding officers learned it had been reported stolen.
Police Dog Services attended and assisted with locating 37-year-old Bethany Rose Bourget.
The Bonnyville female was found hiding between hay bales near the vehicle.
During her arrest, officers noted an odour of alcohol on her breath. Bourget was on probation, which included conditions not to consume alcohol.
The mother of two failed to attend court on Nov. 20, 2018 and Sept. 18, 2018 in relation to this offence. On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 she appeared in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse where she pleaded guilty to breaching the conditions of her probation and two counts of failing to attend court.
Honourable Judge Cheryl Arcand-Kootenay agreed with the joint submission of a $500 fine and five days in custody.
"I'm sorry for what I've done. I used to be badly into drugs. I've quit, I have my own place now, and things are looking up. I promise you'll never see me in here again," expressed Bourget from the Edmonton Remand Centre via CCTV.
"You can only hold yourself accountable for your actions going forward," Arcand-Kootney replied.
Bourget had fully served her jail sentence as of her appearance in court.
