Bonnyville RCMP followed snowy footprints from one break-in to another.

Sometime overnight on Jan. 11, an unknown suspect kicked in the man door of a residential garage on 45 St. in town.

When inside, they smashed a vehicle window.

Police were called on Jan. 12 to report the incident, and when officers arrived at the residence, they noted footprints leading from the scene of the crime.

"(The suspect) appeared to have gone to the adjacent property where another shed door was damaged,” explained Bonnyville RCMP S/Sgt. Sarah Parke.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to come forward and contact the RCMP at 780-343-7200.

Extension cord used as a weapon

A 22-year-old female was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and breaching her recognizance after local RCMP were called about a fight taking place Jan. 11.

It was at around 1:40 p.m. when police responded to a residence on 49 St., where a 23-year-old male had been fighting with his girlfriend.

“RCMP attended and determined the female had struck the male with an extension cord,” Parke noted.

Warrant issued for female

It was around 8:30 pm. on Jan. 13 when Bonnyville officers were called to a 47 St. residence.

A 39-year-old female had yelled at her mother, refused to leave the house, and kicked in a door causing damage.

According to Parke, the female had fled the scene before police arrived and a warrant "has been sought for her arrest."

Aggressive male breaching probation

A 28-year-old male has been charged with criminal harassment and four counts of breaching his probation after an incident at the local Alberta Works.

On the afternoon of Jan. 14, Bonnyville RCMP were asked to respond to a report of an aggressive male at the business.

“They located him in the hallway and he was detained for a mischief investigation and found to be breaching a no contact condition with someone who was in the building,” detailed Parke.

The Carbon, AB male was arrested as a result of the incident.

Police monitoring school zones

While patrolling school zones on Jan. 16, a Bonnyville officer pulled over a 25-year-old Bonnyville male who had been speeding.

It was around 9 a.m. when police issued violation tickets to the male for driving while prohibited, speeding, improper mud flaps, and window tint.

The vehicle was towed as a result.

Not impaired, just uninsured and wanted on warrants

RCMP were called to a possible impaired driver in the ditch at 6 a.m. on Jan. 17.

"The caller believed the driver might have been impaired. RCMP attended and the driver wasn’t impaired, however, the vehicle wasn’t registered or insured and the driver was suspended. The driver was also found to be on an arrest warrant,” stated Parke.

The 38-year-old Cold Lake male has been charged with driving while unauthorized and his vehicle was towed.

RCMP keep tabs on curfew orders

According to Parke, Bonnyville RCMP "have a list of everybody in our jurisdiction that’s on a curfew, and we conduct regular checks most nights for these people to ensure that they’re home where they’re supposed to be."

Officers were checking in on a 22-year-old Bonnyville male known to be on a curfew on Jan. 17. It was just past midnight and the male wasn't home.

"A warrant has been applied for for his arrest," Parke stated.
