Pontiacs collapse against the Dragons

BONNYVILLE - In a game that came down to the wire, the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs collapsed against the Drumheller Dragons and lost 5-4 on home ice on Sunday.

Special teams played a key role in the Pontiacs’ defeat as the Pontiacs were not able to capitalize on their only two power play chances of the game, while the Dragons went 1 for 2 on the man-advantage.

Early in the third period, the Pontiacs seemed to have the game in the bag, holding a 3-1 lead against the Dragons, getting goals from Levi Green, Clarence Beltz, and James Schneid.

But after forward Max Seguin scored on a one-timer assisted by defenseman Jordan Schanbacher, putting the Pontiacs up 4-2, the team took their foot off the gas, allowing three consecutive goals.

Although they rallied hard during the final minutes of the game, it wasn’t enough to overcome their mistakes. Next up, the Pontiacs play the Fort McMurray Oil Barons at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 at Centerfire Place.
