The Bonnyville Junior A Pontiacs travelled to Spruce Grove on Wednesday to face the number one ranked junior A team in the country, the Saints.

Despite the Pontiacs strong start in a hostile environment, the Saints were able to capitalize on their chances, defeating the Pontiacs 4-1, leaving the Pontiacs with little to show for their effort.

"You ask for effort, you ask for team play, I think we got a lot of that tonight. The problem is we made two critical errors that led to (the Saints) second and third goal," said head coach and GM, Chad Mercier, following the game.

The Pontiacs will need the same strong effort, and then some, when the Saints travel to Bonnyville on Friday for the second game of this home and home series.
