RCMP arrest two following pursuit

Bonnyville RCMP, with the assistance of Cold Lake Police Dog Services (PDS) and the St. Paul RCMP, have arrested two suspects following a pursuit.

On July 15, are approximately 2:15 p.m. the Bonnyville General Investigative Section (GIS) observed 26-year-old Travis Gordon and a 32-year-old female in a black car conducting a drug deal.

Officers spotted the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the Hwy. 659 east of town at what police describe as “high speeds.”

The driving pattern caused multiple other drivers to veer off of the road and into the ditch in an effort to avoid a collision.

The vehicle failed to stop for police and the two suspects were later apprehended by Cold Lake PDS in the St. Paul area.

Gordon, a Bonnyville resident, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, obstruction, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

He was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act with operating a motor vehicle without subsisting certificate of registration, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

The 32-year-old female was charged with flight from a peace officer and obstruction.

Gordon was remanded into custody, while the female was released on a recognizance.

Bonnyville RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed a black Oldsmobile Alera car driving erratically on Hwy. 659 east of Bonnyville on July 15 to contact the detachment at 780-343-7200.

Honda Pilot stolen from local motel

A grey Honda Pilot was reported stolen on July 19 from the Western Budget Motel.

Driving over twice the legal limit

A 25-year-old Duffield male was charged with impaired operation after RCMP responded to a 911 call from a concerned citizen on July 20.

Police located the driver on 54 Ave. in town.

At the detachment, the male provided samples of 180-milligrams of alcohol per 100-millilitres of blood.

Suspicious incident reported

On July 21, a citizen reported a suspicious incident after two strangers arrived at their residence requesting to use the phone.

The suspects claimed they were stuck in the mud and needed assistance.

The caller became concerned and called 911.

Members located the suspect vehicle and arrested three suspects for public intoxication.

Officers located a firearm on the back seat.

Two of the suspects were arrested and charged with unsafe storage of a firearm.
