Rollover claims life of 66-year-old Bonnyville-area man

A truck driver has died following a single-vehicle rollover on Range Road 485 in the MD of Bonnyville.

BONNYVILLE - A truck driver has died following a single-vehicle rollover on Range Road 485 in the MD of Bonnyville.

On May 30, at about 2:41 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle oil tanker rollover. 

"Bonnyville Fire Department, EMS, and RCMP attended the scene. Upon arrival, the oil tanker was located on its roof in a small creek. The driver, a 66-year-old resident of the MD of Bonnyville, was declared deceased at the scene," according to information from RCMP.

"There was an oil leak as a result of this collision and the road was closed to traffic for a few hours. A Dangerous Goods Inspector from the Province of Alberta attended the scene, along with Alberta Energy representatives, who are overseeing the oil cleanup and vehicle recovery," adds information from police.

"RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased."
