The 17-year-old youth involved in the robbery of Sonny's Liquor Store last October has pled guilty.

During her March 19 court appearance, the youth pled guilty to robbery and possession of break-in instruments.

The charges stem from the Oct. 13, 2018 robbery of Sonny's Liquor store where the clerk had been assaulted with bear spray.

Bonnyville RCMP were called just after 10 a.m.

In video footage, police watched as three females entered the store brandishing weapons. Two females were carrying firearms, one was a bolt-action rifle, and the other was a sawed-off shotgun. The third suspect, who was holding a bear spray canister, sprayed the clerk in the face.

When the clerk refused to comply with the suspects' demands, she was hit in the head with the firearms.

The three females fled the store with multiple bottles of liquor.

An investigation revealed the youth as one of the suspects involved in the incident.

Video footage gathered from a local gas station showed the youth with 27-year-old Cold Lake woman Angel Blackman, another suspect in the case, wearing the same shoes as the ones in the robbery.

On Nov. 19, 2018, a warrant was executed on Blackman's vehicle, which was believed to have been used in the offence.

Inside of the vehicle, officers found an air-soft rifle and sawed-off shotgun.

When police arrested the youth on Nov. 23, 2018, she confirmed she had committed the robbery with two other females. Blackman was one of them.

The youth's sentencing has been adjourned to May 9 for the completion of a Gladue Report.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the young offender can't be named.
