Stolen vehicle recovered in Cold Lake with firearm inside, arrest made

A Cold Lake man was remanded in custody after being arrested for being in possession of a truck that had been stolen from a Bonnyville residence the day before. Police allegedly located a firearm and ammunition inside the stolen vehicle.

COLD LAKE – A truck that was stolen in the Town of Bonnyville on April 24, was located in the City of Cold Lake the next day. Along with the stolen truck, police uncovered a firearm and ammunition inside the vehicle. 

At 9:10 a.m. on April 25, members from the Bonnyville RCMP, Cold Lake RCMP and Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit located the stolen white Ford F-150 in Cold Lake. 

Police arrested the lone occupant driving the stolen truck and conducted a search of the vehicle. 

“During the search police located a firearm and ammunition, which was not in the vehicle when it was stolen,” reads a statement provided by Bonnyville RCMP. 

Cold Lake resident Jarett Scaine, 26, is facing charges of possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of a firearm. Scaine was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded in custody to appear in court on May 10. 

According to police, the Ford F-150 had been stolen from the 4500 block of 41A Ave in Bonnyville. The vehicle was left running with the keys inside.
