BONNYVILLE - A driver and a front seat passenger have been airlifted to an Edmonton-area hospital following a two-vehicle collision that occurred Thursday morning north of the Town of Bonnyville.
"Members of the Bonnyville RCMP were en route to a dispatched call when a two-vehicle collision occurred along their route just moments before their arrival at the intersection of Highway 41 and Secondary Highway 660," stated information provided by Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke. The incident took place at 10:45 a.m.
An investigation determined that a southbound SUV travelling on Highway 41 allegedly failed to stop at the four-way stop sign and T-boned an eastbound vehicle travelling on Secondary Highway 660 that is believed to have just stopped at the intersection's traffic sign and was proceeding through the intersection.
"All three occupants of the southbound SUV were taken via ambulance to local hospital and from there the driver and front seat passenger were airlifted to an Edmonton-area hospital," Parke stated.
The driver and lone occupant of the eastbound vehicle was assessed by EMS at the scene but was not transported to hospital.
The investigation into the serious injury collision remains open and charges may be pending, noted Parke.
