The Dragonfly Centre exceeds expectations at first annual Golf Charity Tournament

Raising a bar setting $25,870 during the The Dragonfly Centre's first annual Golf Charity Tournament, organizers are looking forward to growing the annual event next summer with the support of the community.

BONNYVILLE – The community came together again to show support to survivors of sexual violence and their caregivers through first annual Charity Golf Tournament held on Aug. 25.

The event raised $25,870 to allow the non-profit to continue to offer free sexual violence counselling and support free of charge to those in north central and north east Alberta.

Some lucky tournament participants included Linda Bordeleau and Charlene Skinner who won a trip for two to Nashville, and Kyle Leader who won $1,540 through the tournament's 50/50 raffle.

The Dragonfly Centre's community-based programming offers a continuum of specialized supports that are client-directed. The organization's core services consist of crisis intervention, counselling, client advocacy including police and court support, as well as outreach and education.

Last year, over 56 per cent of all clients served by The Dragonfly Centre were minors. The Dragonfly Centre Sexual Violence Services provides counselling and support for survivors of all genders, age 3 and up.
