BONNYVILLE – Quinton Wintfley will start at his position as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Bonnyville on June 16.

“Bonnyville offers an exciting opportunity, not only to grow professionally but to contribute to a forward thinking and evolving community. As a younger CAO, this is a chance to make a meaningful impact and to be part of something with enormous potential. The possibilities for growth, innovation and collaboration are incredibly exciting,” said Wintfley.

The Town of Bonnyville made the announcement on June 5.

Town of Bonnyville Mayor Elisa Brosseau said Wintfley’s energy and experience aligns well with council’s vision.

“We’re confident he will hit the ground running and become an integral part of both our organization and the community we serve. We are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to the great work we’ll accomplish together,” she said.

Wintfley was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, before moving to Canada as a child and later pursuing a career in municipal government.

“Wintfley’s passion for making a difference and creating opportunities in communities brought him to municipal government,” according to information from the Town of Bonnyville.

The Town of Bonnyville stated that Wintfley will lead collaboratively with a “community-first mindset.”

Wintfley holds a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Lethbridge and participated in the Alberta Municipal Internship Program as an Assistant CAO for the Village of Consort.

Wintfley has worked in both the private and public sector in municipal government for the past 10 years, most recently acting as the CAO for the Town of Coronation, starting in 2019.

“This position has taught me a great deal about smalltown politics and the intricacies of polarization and internal political dynamics . . . The challenges faced within the complex environment of a small town have provided lasting lessons that I will carry with me into the future.”
