The Village of Glendon has expressed their concerns with water flooding from the MD.

The Village of Glendon council held their monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 12. Amendments to the village tax penalty system, holiday administration hours, bringing the Man Van to Glendon, and the interim budget were the hot button items on this month's agenda.
Seniors club receives remainder of 2016 grant
The Glendon and District Senior Citizens Club will receive the remainder of the $11,957 grant approved in 2016 for the replacement of the club's heating system. This year they'll receive $6,200 from the village to replace their current furnace.
This will likely be the final opportunity for the club to receive funding for the issue, after the first half of the grant was lost.
"We issued a cheque for $5,758 for the furnace and the company ended up going bankrupt. The money became part of the bankruptcy and was lost," detailed Glendon CAO Melody Kwiatkowski.
Council voted in-favour of providing the funds, but reiterated this would be the extent of the village's participation in the replacement.
"I'm fine with giving the rest of what we approved, but that's it. This needs to be done in a timely manner, we have other people wanting money," said Glendon Mayor Laura Papirny.
Village sets holiday hours
The Village of Glendon office will be closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 1, 2018. The office will re-open with regular hours starting Jan. 2. Public works and village services will still be available during that time.
Emergency contact information will be left at the village office for anyone needing assistance over the holidays.
Council grants holiday tax break
Due to amendments in their structure for handing out penalties, village council is giving residents a break on tax penalties for the month of November.
"We're moving to waive tax penalties for the month of November for all tax accounts that were in arrears. Merry Christmas," said Papirny.
Those who have already paid the November penalty will receive a credit on their account for 2018.
Man Van coming to Glendon.
Council voted unanimously in-favour of providing $3,000 to the Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary, to bring the Man Van to Glendon.
The Man Van program is for men aged 40 to 80 and provides free Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood testing. No date has been set for the van's appearance, but village representatives have their eye on the annual car show.
"I think it's an excellent idea, and I think the car show would be a perfect fit. There are a lot of men in town for that event," Papirny.
