Court Report 2

Wyatt James Whitford has pled guilty for his involvement in the theft of a stolen Ford F350.

On Tuesday, March 19, Whitford appeared in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse to speak to charges stemming from Nov. 22, 2018. He pled guilty to possession of stolen property obtained by crime, failing to comply with conditions, and obstructing police.

Last fall, local RCMP received a report that a red Ford F350 had been stolen from the Bonnyville hospital. Two days later, a hunter had located it not far from where Whitford had once resided.

The RCMP forensic unit found fingerprints on the truck that linked Whitford to the vehicle and he was charged.

On Feb. 5, 2019, RCMP attended Whitford's residence for a curfew check, but were told by his girlfriend that he was supposed to be at a doctor's appointment.

Police spotted Whitford outside of the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse, and when they asked why he wasn't at home, Whitford told police he had an appointment.

Officers called to confirm with the hospital, and were notified Whitford didn't have anything scheduled for that day.

Whitford was later questioned by police and admitted to having possession of the stolen truck.

He adjourned his sentencing to April 25.
