COLD LAKE - The Wise Old Owls came out as the winning team from the 17th Annual Quiz Night at École Holy Cross Elementary School in Cold Lake.
On April 28, 18 teams took part in the school's annual fundraiser. Money raised will be used to help fund the Will Baker outdoor classroom and memorial, and to help with costs of school field trips.
Principal Michelle Kaminski stated the staff took months to prepare for the event, which included 10 categories of trivia questions, such as food, 1980s, Yellowstone, weather, under the sea, Canadian tourist destinations, 'one of these things is not like the other.' The night also included fun activities such as brain teasers, heads and tails, and a new game introduced this year called Majority Rules.
There were lots of chances to win prizes and a silent auction also took place, along with door prizes, and food auctions. This year, a homemade apple crisp made by Charlene McKay sold for an impressive $105.
