COLD LAKE - On May 4, students from Assumption Jr/Sr High School (AJSH) in Cold Lake will be working hard to gather as many donations as they can to help those in need.

The upcoming Hungry for Change event was inspired by the École Notre Dame High School’s Hungry for the Homeless campaign in Bonnyville. Students at AJSH decided to put their own spin on the inaugural fundraiser, which will support the Cold Lake Food Bank.

“It’s busier than ever before with inflation,” said Siobhan Squires, a teacher at AJSH, speaking about the decision to support the food bank.

On Thursday, students will volunteer their time to collect monetary and non-perishable food donations at the Assumption Church parking lot and at Sobeys Grocery Store, in Cold Lake.

The school is hoping to raise $500 and collect enough food items to fill half their bus.

“We are hungry for change, and we hope our community is too,” said Squires.
