COLD LAKE – An arrest and a man has been charged in relation to a homicide that happened in Cold Lake last summer.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit’s investigation into the homicide of Aubrey Skelding, 40, of Cold Lake resulted in the arrest of Dale Edward Delorme of Cold Lake on March 21. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

On Aug. 18 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to a report of a female that had been shot in a residence. Police detained a male in relation to the incident at the time, but he was released without charge.

The manner of death was deemed homicide after an autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Aug. 20.

A judicial interim release hearing was held on March 21 and Delorme was remanded into custody with a first appearance date on March 24 in Cold Lake Provincial Court.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further updates will be provided by the RCMP.
