COLD LAKE - The City of Cold Lake is ready to celebrate getting back to normal.

The community will be hosting a two-day Aqua Days event over the August long weekend at Kinosoo Beach,

In the 2021 budget, the city has set aside $50,000 for what was originally scheduled as a single-day event. However, CAO Kevin Nagoya noted there are some extra dollars available should council decide to go ahead with expanding Aqua Days.

"I was able to confirm that outside of the money administration has not spent (on events)... because of the COVID-19 restrictions has resulted in unexpended initiatives... council also did allocate in the 2021 budget, a $40,000 post-COVID celebration. We could theoretically access some of that funding," he outlined. "I think there's enough funding to be able to do this."

The two-day affair would include the ever-popular cardboard boat races, an outdoor concert, West Coast Lumberjacks, beer gardens, and a small air show expo.
