COLD LAKE - The Feast at the Beach festival may be making a comeback in 2026, and the City of Cold Lake is backing the effort.

At its regular meeting on May 13, council unanimously approved a motion to authorize a letter of support for the Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, which is applying for a provincial grant to help bring the event back to Kinosoo Beach.

Andrew Serba, the City’s Manager of Economic Development, Communications, and Strategy, described it as a “pretty straightforward request for a letter of support in an effort to help bring the Feast at the Beach event back for 2026.”

Serba added urgency to the matter, noting that “they are on a short turnaround as the grant application is due tomorrow.”

The Chamber is seeking funding through Alberta’s Community Incentives Program, which offers up to $75,000 to support community-based initiatives.

The 2025 festival was cancelled due to the Chamber’s inability to secure a hosting partner for the weather-dependent event, according to the City of Cold Lake.

Since debuting in 2019, Feast at the Beach has become a signature family-friendly event in Cold Lake, drawing crowds of up to 10,000 over the Labour Day weekend in early September. The two-day celebration features food trucks from across Alberta, live music, beachside beer gardens, and an area for children.

The City of Cold Lake has supported the festival with more than $56,000 in grant funding over the years, and the event also received provincial support in 2019, 2023, and 2024.

Council made a motion to authorize the letter of support before the May 15 funding deadline.
