Cold Lake Easter celebration brings community together

Cold Lake residents and families gathered for an Easter Party event on March 28 at the Cold Lake Energy Centre.

COLD LAKE - Cold Lake residents and families gathered for an Easter Party event on March 28 at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. Organized by the City of Cold Lake, the celebration wasn't just about fun and games - it played a crucial role in bringing the community together.

Katie Pankhurst, the City’s events programmer, emphasized its significance beyond entertainment. "I think it's really good for the community, just to get everybody out and doing stuff," she said. "It's something that we've been doing for a long time, since I've moved here. Just to get everybody out and doing stuff, enjoying the things that we have to offer."

The event was free and offered a diverse range of activities, attracting a large crowd, fostering connections and creating a sense of togetherness.

The Easter Party at the Cold Lake Energy Centre serves as an opportunity for residents to connect, socialize, and forge new relationships.

"It brings people together. People get to hang out or meet new people. You know you always see people posting on social media like how do I meet someone? How do I meet people? Well, if you've got kids, you're going to meet other people with kids here... So it's a good way to meet new people as well, especially the community."

Pankhurst further highlighted the significance of such gatherings in a military community like Cold Lake, saying, "We are a military community, there's lots of people in and out and everything like that, so it's just really nice to have people come out and have a good time."

The festivities, which ran from 4 to 7 p.m., featured a range of attractions, including Easter bunny photos, sparkle tattoos, balloon animals, bouncy houses, face painting, and a petting zoo.

Looking ahead, Cold Lake residents can anticipate more events on the horizon. Pankhurst hinted at upcoming festivities such as Canada Day, the Full Throttle Festival, which is a kick-off to the Cold Lake Airshow, and Aqua Days, promising a summer filled with entertainment and community engagement.
