COLD LAKE – The Cold Lake Lodge is no longer considered an outbreak facility for the coronavirus.

“It brings the board of the Lakeland Lodge and Housing Foundation and myself great pleasure to announce the Cold Lake Lodge’s COVID-19 outbreak status has been lifted as of Dec. 2,” stated Connie Surgeson, Lakeland Lodge and Housing Foundation CAO.

The Cold Lake facility was deemed an outbreak when one of their employees received a positive test result on Nov. 17.

Staff and residents were later administered tests by Alberta Health as the employee did work a shift while they were considered contagious.

“We’re eternally grateful for the dedication, quick response, and unwavering dedication from our onsite management and staff for containing this outbreak to an isolated incident,” Surgeson expressed.

Surgeson offered her appreciation to everyone involved.

“A big thank you to our residents, families, and designated support persons for their support, patience, and confidence in our organization during these extremely stressful and trying times,” she said. “The support of Public Health, Centre for Disease Control and Homecare was greatly appreciated for their collaborative approach, guidance, and gentle compassion towards our residents, management and staff helped in navigating and to cope with an extremely worrisome time.”
